From ideas to mechanisms
Who we are
Founded in 2023, EPFL Watchmakers brings together students passionate about watchmaking and precision engineering, from first concept to functional mechanism.
Engineering
Watchmaking sits at the crossroads of mechanics, microtechnology, materials and design, making EPFL a natural environment for this kind of project.
Materials
From traditional metals to advanced materials, we explore how to design, machine and integrate components for future cases, straps and mechanisms.
EPFL
EPFL provides the academic and technical environment that makes this project possible. Through its interdisciplinary ecosystem and hands-on culture, the school gives students access to the tools needed to develop ambitious watchmaking projects. The association also benefits from the support of the Instant Lab and the MAKE ecosystem.
Ours Projects
Learning by building, advancing through iteration, and pushing the boundaries of what students can achieve together.
Tourbillon
A rotating cage that cancels gravity's effect on precision.
Double Barillet
Two series-mounted barrels deliver extended autonomy and constant force for precision.
Clock 2025
EPFL Watchmakers' first clock, born from a year of student passion.
Moonphase
A dual calendar complication displaying the day, date, and lunar cycle.
